Eagle Scout Project Benefits the Presbyterian Church of Western Springs

To attain the rank of Eagle Scout, a scout must earn 21 merit badges in various categories, serve six months in a troop leadership position, take part in a Scoutmaster Conference and plan, coordinate and lead a service project for a church, school or community (the project cannot benefit an individual or a business.)

Davis McMahon, of Indian Head Park, thought about different projects and wanted to do something for his church, the Presbyterian Church of Western Springs. Rev. Jennifer Burns Lewis suggested the need for more seating near the Labyrinth and playground. He saw an article of another Eagle Scout who built a similar design. Davis researched different types of benches and settled on a style that would also incorporate planters, it would be practical and beautify the area. Once he had the design, he presented the plan for a larger version to his troop and to the church. PCWS Session approved the larger design last May.
