Limited tickets are still available for this weekend's big toast to craft beer in Historic Downtown Long Grove. The inaugural Long Grove Craft Beer & BBQ Days, July 22 and 23, features a marrying of local craft beer and chef-driven BBQ, taking place on Robert Coffin Road in the heart of the quaint village. Friday night is already sold out, however tickets still remain for Saturday (pricing & ticket info follow below).
"Craft Beer & BBQ Days will give attendees an authentic gastropub experience outside under the summer sky with picturesque downtown Long Grove as a backdrop," said Ryan Messner, President of Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association. "We're thrilled to be able to accommodate beer and BBQ enthusiasts with opportunities to taste and learn about the world of Midwestern craft beer and BBQ."
On Friday night, the focus will be more of an intimate BBQ showcase, with ticketholders receiving a curated chef-driven BBQ meal, BBQ demonstrations, and BBQ-craft beer pairing suggestions. Greg Gaardbo, BBQ grill master and owner of Rockin Rodizio, will host workshops where BBQ enthusiasts will be taken on a barbecue journey. They'll learn traditional slow smoking techniques as well as Greg's unique Texas-Brazilian hybrid hot and fast cooking style, where he "live orchestrates" the meats to dance while the food is cooking.
On Saturday, it's more of a traditional craft beer fest, with local craft beer samplings, games, live music, brewing education and interactive stations about the art and science of beer. Over 15 local breweries and dozens of different beers, both hometown favorites and rare tappings, are expected to be represented in the first year event. Guests on Saturday can meet and hear first-hand from brewers about their unique varietals, learn how to taste and evaluate beer like a certified beer judge, and see what sorts of raw ingredients go into making a great craft brew. Freshly-cooked BBQ will be offered on Saturday as well, but as an ala carte option.
Participating breweries include: Goose Island, Noon Whistle, Central Waters, Anchor Brewing, TightHead Brewing, Kronenbourg Brewing, Wells Brewing, Finch Brewing, Penrose, Flying Dog, and 3 Sheeps Brewing.
